New NEAT City | DC

Happy Thursday! We couldn't wait a minute longer to share that NEAT is opening its doors in Washington DC. For those of you that have been NEAT fans for a while now, you know that we were in DC a couple years back. Ever since we closed, we have been interviewing and looking for a great fit. We are self proclaimed perfectionists so the search took time but we are so proud of our newest NEAT girl and couldn't be happier that DC is ready to live the NEAT life!

Read our interview below to find out more about our newest gem, Ashley.

NM:: Hi Ashley! First of all, great name (wink, wink)!

AH:: Thanks! I figured I would be going by Ashley H with this crowd 🙂

NM:: Ha ha, true! Tell us more about you – where are you from, how long have you lived in DC, etc etc?

AH:: My name is Ashley Hatcher and I am originally from Houston, Texas. I moved to DC in 2011 and met my husband, Chris after meeting him at a wedding in 2008. We have been married for two years next week, time flies!

NM:: Congrats! So you've been in DC for a while now. Tell us why you are the perfect fit for the NEAT DC role.

AH:: Aside from already living the NEAT life, I love the joy that creating a NEATer lifestyle brings to clients. I'm all about efficiency and maximizing time, and there's nothing like being organized to help get you there (and the smile on a client's face that tells you that you've succeeded). Of course I have the status quo NEAT girl tendencies – never leaving home without my Day Designer, not going to bed with a dirty kitchen, keeping a mental glass and plate inventory count of my kitchen, and color coding closets just because – those also help too! 🙂

The DC Metro Area is a gorgeous area to live in and I am honored to be able to spread some NEAT joy around in our nation's capital and make spaces as beautiful inside as they are outside.

NM:: DC is lucky to have you! Now let's talk more about organizing. What is your all time favorite product?

AH:: I LOVE the Iron Toy Barrel from The Container Store. This product is perfect for storing stuffed animals and toys, and I even added a liner to the bottom and placed it in my hubby's office to store old building plans he no longer needs. Its a sexy design, great price, and adds a bit of "modern-ness" to any room!

NM:: How about sharing what your favorite blogs to follow are?

AH:: So tough! Honestly, there are two – Apartment Therapy & Who What Wear. I count on Apartment Therapy to give me those "oh so smart" hacks for creatively transforming your space and Who What Wear is my go to expert for all things fashion.

Did I say two?? I actually meant three! I don't get out of the bed until I've read theSkimm every morning… It's an e-newsletter, so I figured it might count too.

NM:: Ha ha! Three is great! So tell us about who you find to be the most influential woman?

AH:: Beyonce. She's a hard worker, crazy talented, and I'm constantly taking #girlboss notes from her. She's never afraid to push boundries, has managed to stay humble through all of her stardom, and it doesn't hurt that she's also from Houston!

My runner up? I know you're not surprised that I have two but my second would be Diane Von Furstenburg. She built a fashion brand from her drive, determination, and intellect, and her philanthropic spirit is beautiful. She wears many hats, including CFDA president, and wears them all gracefully and fabulously.

NM:: We love those women – great choices! Okay, last question… What is your favorite NEAT space that has been completed and why?

AH:: I love the simplicity of this space and how luxurious it feels. I am a true lover of fashion and love the idea that a person should feel like she's shopping in her favorite store when she looks in her (or his!) closet. Research says that on average, a person wears less than 20% of the clothing in their closet. With a closet this organized, I have no doubt that this client is getting 100% usage of these items.

We couldn't agree more, Ashley. A NEAT space definitely adds to a person's life. We can't wait for you to transform the lives of many in DC!
