Hi everyone, it’s Meg from Orlando!
As a NEAT girl, it’s often hard to find someone to live with who shares the same passion for simplicity. My friend Courtney needed a place to stay for a month before moving back home, so I offered up my guest room! Imagine my relief when she showed up with all of her belongings in a large suitcase and a carry-on. She’s been such a dream roommate, so I wanted to make sure I stacked up. I interviewed her and let her know she could be COMPLETELY honest about her experience at Casa de Meg.
M :: When and where did you and Meg meet?
C :: Meg and I met in an improv comedy class at SAK Comedy Lab in Orlando, Florida. We did a scene about Oprah and have been best friends ever since.
M :: Are you a naturally NEAT person?
C :: I would certainly not call myself naturally neat and organized. I am however, a minimalist and try to keep unnecessary items out of my possession. Practicing a minimalist lifestyle certainly helps when it comes to organizing and creating systems that work in any given space. The more I work at both minimizing and organizing the more naturally they come to me.
M :: Is Meg a clean freak?
C :: Meg’s house is always clean and she stays on top of housework, but it is not a museum or a hospital. It’s a clean, livable, space. She really has an inviting style and often hosts our friends for get-togethers where we can all hang-out and socialize.
M :: What is the NEATest space in Meg’s home?
C :: Personally, I am partial to the refrigerator. I think the organization is top notch, and she doesn’t keep anything unnecessary in there. Even when it is fully stocked it never looks cluttered or over-filled.
M :: What space in Meg’s home could be NEATer?
C :: I plead the fifth! I think she would say it’s her bedroom, and since she says it, I can agree with her. She stays busy with her clients, family, friends, community involvement, and hobbies so I will not fault her for not making her bed every single day.
M :: What is your favorite part of living in Orlando, FL?
C :: There is never a shortage of things to do in Orlando! We have such a wonderful arts community here, we have so many festivals and almost every neighborhood has a farmer’s market. Since moving to Orlando I have not been bored for a single second.
M :: What is your favorite part of living with Meg?
C :: Hands down, her two dogs are the best part of everything. I’m kidding… kind of! Getting to see Meg more often is the best. We already talk to each other every day, so now it’s just in person; having someone to watch Bachelor in Paradise with, our guilty pleasure, is also a huge perk.
M :: Do you feel NEATer now?
C :: I think I am definitely NEATer than I was when I got to Meg’s. Any time you add an accountability partner who has similar priorities and goals you are bound to get better. As I leave Meg’s, I feel like I have even more tools to make the next place I live even NEATer than I originally could have. Besides, I can always get Meg to come and help me if I get stuck!
M :: Overall, how would you rate your experience of living with a NEAT girl?
C :: Two very enthusiastic thumbs up! I highly recommend living with a NEAT girl, whether you are naturally tidy or a walking tornado you can benefit from having a NEAT girl in your life. Meg is the most fun, most clean, and overall best roommate I have ever had and she is a great friend too. NEAT Method is all about making your life easier so that you have more time for fun. So whether you befriend a NEAT girl, or hire one, your life will be sure to be better.
