Our First NEAT Guy!!

For years you have heard us refer to ourselves as The NEAT Girls! Well times they are a changing and we could not be more excited to have our first male member of The NEAT Team.

Meet Terapan Lilittham! He is San Francisco's newest organizer and an amazing addition to the team. We knew you would need to know more, so here is an interview with this NEAT guy ...

Terapan Lilittham, San Francisco Organizer, NEAT Method

NM :: Where are you from originally?
TL :: San Francisco. Born & raised in the Mission district. & things have really changed in the neighborhood.

NM :: How did you find NEAT?
TL :: Through exhaustive internet searching as I began my journey to become the most amazing organizing professional. I reached out to Lisa for an apprenticeship via LinkedIn after thoroughly ogling NEAT's IG account.

NM :: Where did your love for organizing begin?
TL :: The moment I got my own room as a kid I became obsessed with arranging & rearranging my things, the beginning of my OCD for creating optimal and thoughtfully designed spaces.

NM :: What is your favorite space to organize?
TL :: The bedroom room! Consulting with clients on cool duvet covers and the contents of their nightstand is an added plus to these jobs.

NM :: What is your least favorite space?
TL :: Haven't found a space yet I don't love getting my hands on.

NM :: Do you have a favorite organizing hack or product?
TL :: Ikea Kallax Shelf Unit in 2x8 & 1x4. Super affordable & exceptionally versatile for any room. But ALSO acrylic trays are everything for me right now!

NM :: What is the most organized space in your own home?
TL :: My closet. The simple pleasure of sliding it open and seeing all my clothes put away and perfectly displayed is one I could not live without.

NM :: What area in your home can you just not get it together?
TL :: My dining room table. It's doubling as an eat station & office desk. Currently researching better ways to create the distinction between the two to easily organize my paperwork for mealtimes.

NM :: What is it like working for NEAT?
TL :: The most amazing adventure each day with every project and client I meet. It has been a true treat :D

NM :: How do you feel about being our first male organizer?!
TL :: I didn't realize until recently that I am kind-of a minority/unicorn at NEAT & in the organizing industry. Can't wait to show the world my unique sense for spacial planning & personal aesthetic as I grow into a stronger organizer.

Well Terapan we sure are glad you found us and were willing to take a leap of faith to transform this female focused industry. We are lucky to have you!

NEAT IT NOW :: Virtual Organizing

For over 5 years, we have been providing home organizing services across the Country. First, San Francisco got a taste of The NEAT Life and when they couldn't get enough of it we started launching in other cities (18 to be exact). During this time we have been perfecting our craft, or Method if you will, and are beyond excited to announce that we are ready to bring it to the masses.

What does that mean exactly? Well, for now we can only tell you a small part of what it means because we have something even bigger in the works. However, what we can tell you is that we are officially offering virtual organizing services. So, if you are (a) not in a city where we have a location, or (b) prefer a DIY project to tackle on your own, you can learn to live the NEAT life virtually!

Splurge vs. Save - How to Create a NEAT Space for Every Budget

Organizing can make your house look like a million bucks BUT that doesn't mean you have to spend a million. We have become experts at working within our client's budgets so today, we are going to give you the details on how to splurge and save in particular places throughout your home. First up is the dirtiest NEAT job out there... the garage! We certainly know how to splurge in this space by saying two words, "Fusion Wall." This system is great because it can be adjusted and changed as the needs of your family changes.

Alternatively, by purchasing bakers racks and bins, you can also make a large imact on how you store things in your garage for a fraction of the price.

Spending a lot in a child's closet is sometimes hard to justify. When you do decide to go with a custom closet, it certainly can look really, REALLY good!

Our own NEAT girl, Mika opted to purchase this affordable ikea shelving unit instead and it looks fabulous in her daugther's room!

When it comes to hangers, it's surprising how much you can spend on the perfect place to keep your pants wrinkle free. These are some of the pricier ones we have worked with.

This next space looks equally as great but the hangers are three times less!

Finally, one of our favorite places to organize in a kitchen pantry. The quickest way to spend money fast is on these oxo containers. They are AMAZING but also quite expensive.

If you want to get that NEAT look for less, consider using some bins to categorize like items instead of putting them in individual containers. Then only use the oxo for things that truly need their own space.

What are you splurging/saving on in your home?

How It All Began...A Story from our Founders!

We often times get asked how we started this crazy business. Believe it or not...our answer may surprise you! Most of you have read our little story about how we first met and our instant connection over Chicago, relocating to San Francisco and our love for being organized. What you may not know is that we really did not know eachother when we started this business. Literally, we met one afternoon and set up a little coffee date a few days later.

At that first date, we started talking about our hopes and dreams while living in SF and shared that we both had dabbled into the interesting world of organizing. From that date on, we decided to take a blind leap into what we thought would be a fun hobby. Not only did we realize that we really liked eachother, but we also realized we were really good at it.

The part that may surprise you is that it wasn't the organizing that we were good at. Sure...we could put together a good color coordinated space or too, but just because we grew up organizing our rooms every weekend didn't mean we could run a business. Our very first client actually came from a Tweet that Molly's husband had seen. The Tweet came from a successful tech guy sharing a New York Times article about an organizing business in NYC. He was asking if anyone knew of something like this in San Francisco. Without hesitation, we Tweeted back letting him know that we were organizers that had just launched our business in SF. Little did he know, we hadn't had a single client yet or barley a business setup for that matter.

Somehow we impressed them during the consultation and he and his wife hired us to complete their entire home (eeekkk!!). This was the first time that we learned that the two of us worked really well together...especially when it came to pretending that we both knew what we were doing.

From that day (and that client) on, we truly haven't looked back. Countless days and hours together have led us to what you see today. As many of you know, we have now turned this little hobby into a National company with organizers in 18 cities across the Country. It's amazing how many women (and some men) are out there that also want to turn their passion for organizing into a business.

Our advice to all of you would be to ask yourselves how motivated you are to actually run a business. Not just the "hobby" of organizing, but a true, 9-5 (and sometimes longer) business. If you are one of those people, then you can absolutely put the same heart and soul into this as well. In fact, that goes for any business that you want to attempt. We are just hear to tell you that it is possible. If two 20 something gals from the Midwest can do it, then so can all of you!

We do want to thank all of you for all of your support! We couldn't be doing all of this without all of you. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you are looking to start your own organizing business. We have several ways of helping you do so!

xx
