Living With A NEAT Girl!

Hi everyone, it’s Meg from Orlando!

As a NEAT girl, it’s often hard to find someone to live with who shares the same passion for simplicity. My friend Courtney needed a place to stay for a month before moving back home, so I offered up my guest room! Imagine my relief when she showed up with all of her belongings in a large suitcase and a carry-on. She’s been such a dream roommate, so I wanted to make sure I stacked up. I interviewed her and let her know she could be COMPLETELY honest about her experience at Casa de Meg.

M :: When and where did you and Meg meet?
C :: Meg and I met in an improv comedy class at SAK Comedy Lab in Orlando, Florida. We did a scene about Oprah and have been best friends ever since.

M :: Are you a naturally NEAT person?
C :: I would certainly not call myself naturally neat and organized. I am however, a minimalist and try to keep unnecessary items out of my possession. Practicing a minimalist lifestyle certainly helps when it comes to organizing and creating systems that work in any given space. The more I work at both minimizing and organizing the more naturally they come to me.

M :: Is Meg a clean freak?
C :: Meg's house is always clean and she stays on top of housework, but it is not a museum or a hospital. It's a clean, livable, space. She really has an inviting style and often hosts our friends for get-togethers where we can all hang-out and socialize.

M :: What is the NEATest space in Meg's home?
C :: Personally, I am partial to the refrigerator. I think the organization is top notch, and she doesn't keep anything unnecessary in there. Even when it is fully stocked it never looks cluttered or over-filled.

M :: What space in Meg's home could be NEATer?
C :: I plead the fifth! I think she would say it's her bedroom, and since she says it, I can agree with her. She stays busy with her clients, family, friends, community involvement, and hobbies so I will not fault her for not making her bed every single day.

M :: What is your favorite part of living in Orlando, FL?
C :: There is never a shortage of things to do in Orlando! We have such a wonderful arts community here, we have so many festivals and almost every neighborhood has a farmer's market. Since moving to Orlando I have not been bored for a single second.

M :: What is your favorite part of living with Meg?
C :: Hands down, her two dogs are the best part of everything. I'm kidding... kind of! Getting to see Meg more often is the best. We already talk to each other every day, so now it's just in person; having someone to watch Bachelor in Paradise with, our guilty pleasure, is also a huge perk.

M :: Do you feel NEATer now?
C :: I think I am definitely NEATer than I was when I got to Meg's. Any time you add an accountability partner who has similar priorities and goals you are bound to get better. As I leave Meg's, I feel like I have even more tools to make the next place I live even NEATer than I originally could have. Besides, I can always get Meg to come and help me if I get stuck!

M :: Overall, how would you rate your experience of living with a NEAT girl?
C :: Two very enthusiastic thumbs up! I highly recommend living with a NEAT girl, whether you are naturally tidy or a walking tornado you can benefit from having a NEAT girl in your life. Meg is the most fun, most clean, and overall best roommate I have ever had and she is a great friend too. NEAT Method is all about making your life easier so that you have more time for fun. So whether you befriend a NEAT girl, or hire one, your life will be sure to be better.

Another NEAT Nursery for another NEAT Baby

In honor of our girl, Katie Koentje we thought it would be fun to revisit this post from a few years ago since so many of you loved it. She just had her second baby boy last night (Grayson George) and we could not be more thrilled to welcome another NEAT baby into our world. Much love Katie B! Enjoy all of those sweet baby cuddles. xx your NEAT family

With our San Diego Hot Momma, Katie B due in just a few short weeks, we can't help but jump for joy knowing the NEAT Team is about to have another cute little man added to the line up!

In honor of our soon-to-be, NEAT new boyfriend, we are taking a peek inside the little nugget's adorable nursery!

How perfect is this nautical themed nursery? The white washed surf plaques and wood plank nautical art are such a soft and subtle way of bringing the sea indoors!

The crib and changing table are from Pottery Barn - the Fillmore Collection - and Katie B can't get enough of it! "It is exactly what I envisioned my baby sleeping in!"

Other small touches Katie B was sure to include in the perfect nursery for her son: a nautical boat light switch plate cover, a DIY burlap Toys bin, High Seas musical mobile, and a Dream Big Whale Pillow!

Now that we've seen how amazing the nursery decor is, let's get to the best part...how did Mrs. Organized Mom organize the nursery??

She designated bigger baby items to live in the closet, including: blankets, swaddles, and adorable accessories like shoes and bowties!

Katie B designated the top drawer for the most used baby items of all, diapers & wipes! The second drawer is filled with additional items also used on a daily basis regular - changing pads and nursing pads. Basically, any items that need to be grabbed quickly when baby is hungry or needs a diaper change asap!

She also implemented one of NEAT Method's favorite tricks -- folding and filing the clothes in drawers! Rather than the typical drawer situation of piling one item on top of another...this way, both Mom & Dad can dress baby quickly while also changing up the wardrobe! No more putting baby in the same NEAT onsie day after day (as much as we'd like that) ;)

An added bonus to keep baby clothes organized in the drawer is to implement linen drawer organizers! These can also be used as baby grows. Laslty, it's important to designated specfic drawers for specfic ages, making it easy to transition down the road.

August 11th can't come soon enough for Mom, Dad, and all his soon-to-be NEAT girlfriends!

One Amazing Product 3 Ways!

As many of you know at this point, we are kind of obsessed with finding the perfect product! We spend countless hours trying to discover the latest and greatest when it comes to styling our clients' homes with great product. It never fails that every time we post a pic of a fabulous find, our followers want to know just where we found such a gem. Well, it just so happens to be your lucky day to learn about one of our NEATest finds.

One of the fastest ways to make a space look a little more dressed up is to add a simple acyrlic tray. You may notice that we put them in many of our clients spaces for various uses. Not only are the beautiful, but they really do serve a purpose. We are here to show you today our new favorite acyrlic discovery and a few different purposes it serves.

This medium size tray by JR William is really one of the loveliest ones we've seen. You can see here how it's the perfect addition for your bathroom countertop for all of those products that typically take over. By adding this simple tray, you can now corral all of your products in one spot and never have to search again.

Who doesn't love the idea of being inspired to have a fun sunglass collection!?! Just think, it will give you the perfect excuse to display them so you can feel just as fancy picking them out as you will rocking them around town.

And...our personal favorite is the ability to display all of your go to earrings or jewelry. We wanted to save the best for last to also prove that you don't have to break the bank to be organized. This is a perfect example of how one little item for $45 can make you feel just as fancy as having an entire jewelry drawer in your closet.

We really can't say enough about finding a home for all little things in your life, too! They often times get overlooked and this simple idea just proves why they really don't need to. Thanks to JR William for coming up with such a simple, pretty and sustainable idea! We look forward to implementing into our NEAT world!

Kansas City famous for BBQ, Jazz, the Royals and now… NEAT!

That’s right! NEAT Method is officially launching in Kansas City this week with our very own, Celsie Sneden. Celsie has been with the Chicago team the last couple of years and is now getting back to her roots by moving back to Kansas City where she will launch our newest NEAT market.

Celsie Sneden, NEAT Method Kansas City, Professional Organizer, Home Organizing

NM :: Hi Celsie!  How did you come to run NEAT Method Kansas City?

CS :: I have been very lucky this last year and a half because I have been able to work with the amazing NEAT Method Chicago ladies and have fallen in love with EVERYTHING NEAT!!! That being said, after having amazing adventures in Chicago for the past four years and working as a nanny to three families prior to NEAT, it started to feel like it was time to move closer to my family in Kansas. I was actually born and raised in Topeka Kansas (the state capital) and I lived in Lawrence while I went to KU but will be living in Kansas City for the first time this year!

I couldn’t imagine my life without NEAT and I was really feeling like I needed to be closer to my family. Running NEAT in Kansas is like having my cake and eating it, too!

Celsie Sneden, NEAT Method Kansas City, Professional Organizer

NM :: We’re so excited for you! Tell us a bit more about Kansas City.

CS :: Well, Kansas City is actually in two different states (Kansas and Missouri) so being in two different places at once is pretty awesome! In all seriousness, Kansas City is such an amazing place to explore, between the famous BBQ to going to baseball games (GO ROYALS!) it is a place that has a little something for everyone!

Celsie Sneden, NEAT Method Kansas City, Professional Organizer, Minnie Mouse, Disney

NM :: Speaking of BBQ, what are your favorite places to eat in your city?

CS ::  I know mentioned BBQ earlier when talking about what makes KC unique and I was not kidding.  If you haven’t had Kansas City BBQ you haven’t been to Kansas City! There are many great places to eat BBQ but the last place I had great BBQ was Arthur Bryant's.

NM :: Yum! Well, we’ll definitely have to visit and try some!  Let’s chat organizing.  What is YOUR most organized space?  Show us a picture of your most organized space and tell us what it is

CS :: Under my bed! I had to work to make space, so putting my bed on risers created enough space to store my suitcases behind storage bins.

Celsie Sneden, NEAT Method Kansas City, Professional Organizer

NM :: Great use of space!  Now, what about your least organized?!

CS :: My least organized space is less a space and more a piece of furniture. I’d been looking for a chair for my bedroom for ages. I finally found “the one” but unfortunately it’s turned into my version of a “catch all”. So, I am proud to say I do not have a single “junk drawer” in my place but 85% of the time I have a beautiful cream colored cushioned oversized catch-all instead of the luxurious reading/make up/desk chair I intended.

Celsie Sneden, NEAT Method Kansas City, Professional Organizer

NM :: What are you looking forward to most to running NEAT Kansas City?

CS :: I’m looking forward to working with an amazing team of people who are passionate about all things organizing. And I can’t wait to work with clients excited to make a change and live the NEAT life! My clients can expect an excited and passionate NEAT team working hard to give them beautiful, functional spaces in every space of their home!

Celsie Sneden, NEAT Method Kansas City, Professional Organizer

NM :: Do you have any hidden talents that we should know about?

CS :: I am able to put together/build just about anything and given the opportunity, I jump at the chance to take apart something that is broken just to put it back together again!

NM :: That’s sure going to come in handy (see what we did there!) as you set up shelving and storage pieces in client homes. What about your favorite organizing product, do you have one?

CS ::  I am a sucker for the Linus drawer organizers from The Container Store. I love that there is an infinite amount of combinations you can use and finding the perfect arrangement is like placing the final piece to a puzzle, SUCCESS!

Celsie Sneden, NEAT Method Kansas City, Professional Organizer

NM :: What are some of your favorite blogs and why?

CS :: Refined Rooms is a fun blog with a great mix of how-to’s and Pinterest style ideas. I love getting inspired by the different design ideas! Also, Do It On A Dime has some great videos and tips on organizing and decorating.

NM :: OK, as we wrap this up, anything else you think we need to know?

CS :: Only that I know a lot of odd ‘fun facts’ and that I am beyond excited to bring NEAT Method to Kansas!!

NM :: Us too! While the Chicago team is going to miss you dearly, we’re all excited for you to launch your own market and look forward to all of your success in KC!
