Our final city to launch is one that people have been wanting for a while! Please welcome Dominique Caskey launching Houston, Texas! We are thrilled to add another city in Texas and are so excited for you all to meet Dominique.
Let’s learn a bit more about her!
NM :: Welcome to the NEAT family! Tell us, what did you do before deciding to run NEAT Houston?
DC :: I was an event and wedding planner for quite some time, both with a venue and private firm, and more recently, I was in marketing & branding for two amazing Houston area bridal boutiques!
NM :: What made you want to run NEAT in your city?
DC :: Oh, there are so many reasons! I feel like organizing has just been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I have always loved all of the little details that make the magic happen and discovered the depth of that in my career choices. If I combine that with my love for homes and styling/organizing to be beautiful AND functional in day to day life… NEAT Method just simply felt meant to be!
NM :: Sounds like it! So why Houston? What makes it unique?
DC :: I’ve been in Houston for almost 4 years now. I love how Houston is an impressive metropolitan area but has smaller pockets and neighborhoods with their own characteristics that make it the exciting, unique city that it is. The mixture of community, diverse culture, and hospitality of Houstonians is what makes it truly second to none in my book; it’s almost something you can’t put into words. It also doesn’t hurt if you’re a foodie; the variety of restaurants and cuisine is amazing!
NM :: Speaking of food… we’re dying to know what your favorite restaurants are!
DC :: There are so many to choose from! La Table, Ouisie’s Table and Liberty Kitchen are just a few of my favorite Houston spots. And The Goode Company is one of my new favorites when it comes to Tex Mex!
NM :: Yum! What about shopping… any favorite spots around town?
DC :: I’ll have to go with two favorites – 19th Street in The Heights and Market Street in a suburb just north of Houston, The Woodlands! 19th Street is a historic part of town filled with eclectic, one of a kind shops that make any shopping day an adventure. Market Street is an outdoor lifestyle/shopping center of sorts with favorites such as ZGallerie, JCrew and Madewell, as well as some of the best cocktails and tapas you can find! A bonus? It’s not far from The Container Store!
NM :: Since you’re an organizer, we’d love to see your most organized space!
DC :: My kitchen is definitely the most organized space in our home. It’s where we spend most of our time so function is a necessity! That being said, my pantry is definitely one of my happy places!
NM :: So nice!! What about a space you’re not so proud of?
DC :: Oh, my dresser drawers, and it’s really just the one with my t-shirts. For some reason, it’s the one spot that seems to slip by. At the very least, it’s categorized!
NM :: What can people expect when they hire you to organize their home?
DC :: My clients can expect someone with a heart & passion not only for what I do, but for them! I truly want to help them make their homes work for them and their everyday lives so they can enjoy what matters most in a friendly, approachable way. It doesn’t hurt that it looks so pretty too! Telling their story and bringing joy to their lives through this passion of mine is a honor, and I can’t wait to share it through NEAT Houston!
NM :: Do you have any hidden talents that we should know about?
DC :: I can create a timeline or project plan like no other. Whether it be for a wedding day, a move or simply a list of tasks, breaking them down in a way where they can actually be achieved in a set amount of time is like a second language to me!
NM :: Seems like you’re a natural organizer! What is your favorite product to use while organizing?
DC :: Baskets are always at the top of my list to keep things organized and stylish all at once, but on an even more practical note, the clear Linus cabinet and pantry organizers from The Container Store are also a favorite!
NM :: What blog do you think we NEED to follow now and why?
DC :: Emily Henderson has one of the most amazing interior design blogs. Pure Joy Home is one of my current lifestyle blog faves – her Try Ons are the best. Lara Casey, editor of Southern Weddings, is a powerhouse blogger when it comes to living intentionally-in both life & business! Always love reading what she has to share!
NM :: Now that you will be running your own business, do you have another business you admire?
DC :: Emily Ley and The Simplified Planner! I’ve been such a fan for quite some time now, and it’s been amazing to watch not only her small business grow into what it is today, but the impact it’s had on women and families as well. Southwest Airlines is another one that I can never stop thinking about due to their industry changing leadership practices.
Well we want to be the first to welcome you and wish you the best. We can’t wait to see you bring #theNEATlife to the Houston area!
