First Dallas, and now……. San Antonio! Please join us in welcoming our newest NEAT gal, April Chalk! Curious why San Antonio and why April?? You won't be after you read this interview with her!
NM :: Alright April, how did you find your way to NEAT?
AC :: When my youngest son was starting school and I wanted to return to work, my husband asked me "If you could do anything and get paid for it, what would that thing be?" I quickly replied "declutter and organize closets" which started me on a journey into professional home organizing and to NEAT Method.
I hope that by doing something I love, I can create the peace and functionality in other's homes that will give them more time, space, and energy to focus on the people and things that they love. My goal is to help individuals and families to live their best lives by reviving their most important spaces.
NM :: VERY well said! What makes San Antonio unique?
AC :: I am still getting to know San Antonio, but what I love so far is that even though it is the seventh-most populated U.S. city, it somehow still has more of a small-town feel. There is a beautiful natural landscape (lots of hills and trees), a rich cultural and historical heritage, and tons of fun things to do. It is a great place to visit and an even better place to live. I have only lived here for about 10 months, but we plan on making it a long-term thing. Maybe someday I will be able to call myself a true Texan!
NM :: Texas is lucky to have you! Where are your favorite places to shop in San Antonio?
AC :: The Shops at La Cantera is a great open-air mall that I have visited several times since moving here; there are tons of stores and the atmosphere is beautiful and fun. I've also discovered a darling gift and stationery shop called Moon Mippy.
NM :: What about your favorite places to eat? Tell us about the Tex-Mex!
AC :: When we moved to San Antonio, everyone told me that I just had to try breakfast at the Magnolia Pancake Haus, and it did not disappoint! They have the best blueberry pancakes I have ever had! For dinner we love to pick up fajitas and horchata from El Jalisco, a small Mexican restaurant near my husband's office. They have homemade corn tortillas that are out of this world.
NM :: Alright, San Antonio sounds pretty great! Let’s get down to business though … what is the most organized space in your home?
AC :: This was a hard choice! My most organized space is probably my living room. We are living in a small apartment while we decide where in San Antonio we want to settle down and buy a house, so my living area functions as the family room, library, office, and playroom. In order for multi-functional spaces to work well, they have to stay super organized!
NM :: Wow! Multi purpose spaces are TOUGH and you knocked it out of the park! Ok what about your least organized space?
AC :: My least organized space is probably the bench in my bedroom. I put the bench there because it is so cute, but unfortunately it has turned into a drop zone for everything from my purse to things I need to return to the load of laundry that I haven't quite gotten around to folding.
NM :: Ah the drop zone! We know that trouble area all too well. What are some of your favorite organizing products?
AC :: Drawer organizers and dividers of all shapes, sizes, and types. There is nothing better than opening up a drawer where everything is perfectly in place, and it takes no time at all to find exactly what you need.
NM :: So what can people expect when they hire you to organize their home?
AC :: When the people of San Antonio hire me to organize their home, they can expect confidentiality and professionalism as well as kindness, energy, and excitement about each project. I also understand that real life can make it difficult to keep a home clean and organized so there will never be any judgement from me!
NM :: And that's why we love you! April, we’re so excited for you to join the team and help make San Antonio more NEAT, one home at a time!
If you know of anyone that needs organizing in the area or that wants to be considered for April's team, please do not hesitate to reach out!
