New NEAT City | Denver - East

Thursday, August 10, 2023

We want to welcome Lauren Morrisey of Denver - East, Colorado to the NEAT team. We are thrilled to have her. Let’s find out more about what makes her so NEAT.

NM : Why do you want to run NEAT in your city?

LM :  When you have 300 plus days of sunshine and the rocky mountains at your fingertips, people tend to be out of their house enjoying all that the city and mountains have to offer. It is nice to come home to an organized home; where every toy (for kids both big and small) has its place, you don’t have to do the dreaded “shove” of clothes or groceries, and there's no longer “the closet” or dark corner of the garage that no one talks about. It sounds silly but that clutter weighs on you, I love being able to offer a service that provides people with a little peace of mind.

NM : What did you do before NEAT?

LM : For the last two years I have been working for a woman owned small business that does decluttering, organizing, packing, unpacking, and staging for realtors. It has been a great primer for NEAT. Although, staying home with our two boys for nearly ten years, was the real crash course. You learn quickly how a house can go from tidy to a tornado path in seconds. My background is in environmental science; B.C. (before children) I worked for the National Park Service as a biologist studying human-wildlife interactions.

NM : What makes your city unique?

LM : I think people move to Denver for the outdoor lifestyle while still having all the amenities of a city close by. On any given day there are numerous activities and events going on. People value their time and they want to spend it out doing things with their friends and family, having adventures, not organizing their pantry.

NM : How long have you lived in your city?

LM : I moved to Denver with my now husband in 2009. We came out here the year before to ski with friends, and joked ‘we should move here,’ a few months later we were packing up a Uhaul and driving across the country. We moved to Kansas for three years for my husband’s job, “Rock Chalk”, but when an opportunity came to move back to Denver we took it.

NM : What are your favorite places to eat in your city?

LM : That’s a tough one; I am not really one for fancy food so most of my favorite places have as much to do with the food as it does with who I eat there with. A recent favorite; Lucky Noodle has some of the best Thai food I’ve had in Denver. Phonecian Kabob, their middle eastern/lebanese food is excellent. Comal Food Heritage Incubator; the food is delicious, and their mission to support women immigrants and refugees is inspiring. The Stanley MarketPlace and Denver Central Market are great for when you can’t make up your mind. And for those very very special occasions, I love getting the omakase at Temaki Den.

NM : What do you think is going to be your favorite part of running NEAT in your city?

LM : I genuinely love to organize, getting to do this as a full time job with a company that I am proud to be a part of is a dream come true. I enjoy getting to know people, I am looking forward to building relationships between our clients and team. As an owner, I’m excited to get involved with other businesses and business owners in the area. There are so many opportunities to work together, it is going to be fun to see what comes to fruition.

NM : What can people expect when they hire you to organize their home?

LM : I want to ensure people feel comfortable with me, first and foremost. Call me old fashion, but I like to establish a baseline report with a client before I start going through their things. It is also important for me to know someone as well. Get to know their style, understand their needs and wants, so that we can come up with a solution that fits them. I respect that people are entrusting us to do this and I want to honor that to the best of my ability. And I would remind them that, it will look worse before it looks NEAT..

NM : What is your favorite organizing product?

LM : A label! It is the organizational cherry on top. A good label really finishes and pulls a space together. Nothing is more satisfying than putting labels on a freshly organized space.

NM : Anything else we should know?

LM : Even before dreaming about becoming an owner with NEAT, I was a fan first. I started following their instagram page around nine years ago; I even reached out several years ago to see if they were expanding their Denver market (they weren’t at the time). I have loved organizing and planning for as long as I can remember. In high school my friend and I would get our planners together and plan our busy teenage lives. My mother can attest that at least once a month I’d turn my closet inside out to organize it. I am beyond excited to be a part of NEAT!

Congratulations on launching Denver - East. We’re so excited to have you join NEAT!

xx
