New NEAT City | Virginia Beach

Thursday, July 15, 2021

We want to welcome Alayna Hermans of Virginia Beach, Virginia to the NEAT team. We are thrilled to have her. Let’s find out more about what makes her so NEAT.

NM :: Why do you want to run NEAT in your city?

AH ::  Virginia Beach is my hometown and I couldn’t think of a cooler way to give back to a city that shaped me. Most people from here will agree that we have southern hospitality and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Waves and greetings on your walks and errands are totally normal, even from strangers. I want to share all things NEAT with our community.

NM :: What did you do before NEAT?

AH :: Before joining Neat, I taught Health & PE for 7 years, both middle and elementary school. Controlling chaos has been in my DNA apparently. Now, I'm excited to use that in a new adventure by helping organize client’s spaces.

NM :: What makes your city unique?

AH ::  Being a coastal city, and near the world’s largest Naval Base, Virginia Beach has so much to offer. From historical sites to social activities- there are many reasons to love it here! We have tourist attractions at the oceanfront, serene bay and beach living, and suburban neighborhoods, new and old. Locals want to stay, newcomers feel at ease.

NM :: How long have you lived in your city?

AH :: Almost 29 years! My parents still live in the house they bought a week before they got married (in 1986), and my family lives just a few miles away!

NM :: What are your favorite places to eat in your city?

AH :: Waterman’s at the Oceanfront, Rockafeller’s at the Inlet 1608 Crafthouse and a new family favorite, Old Beach Tavern. Surprisingly, I don’t like seafood, even though I grew up by the beach. Kohr Bros. Custard at the oceanfront is my weakness!

NM :: Show us a picture of your most organized space and tell us what it is.

AH ::  Our Master Closet is our most organized space! We use it daily, which is why the effort is made to keep it neat. It was recently updated to accommodate our needs and it’s the prettiest closet to look at in our home (all the more reason to keep it in order!)

NM :: What about your least organized space? What the heck happened?

AH :: Well, my daughter’s closet has taken the back seat. We have most of her clothes stored in a dresser so we don’t open this closet regularly. It has become a dumping ground for clothes too small (kids grow so fast), backstock, and other random items that were in her room before she was born and they haven’t found a new home yet!

NM :: What do you think is going to be your favorite part of running NEAT in your city?

AH ::  I’m looking forward to getting to know more of the community, see the transformations, and build great relationships! I’m a people person!

NM :: What can people expect when they hire you to organize their home?

AH :: I will provide a professional, but friendly service that suits my client’s needs. I will listen to their desires and give my all to meet and hopefully exceed their hopes for the spaces we work in.

NM :: Do you have any hidden talents that we should know about?

AH :: Most would say my hidden talents are my organizational abilities, but the cat’s out of the bag on that one! I do know I can put away a sleeve of girl scout cookies (especially Somoas) in one sitting.

We are with you on the Samoas. Those things are addicting! Congratulations on launching Virginia Beach. We’re so excited to have you join NEAT!

xx
