We want to welcome Emily Christopher of Sacramento, California to the NEAT team. We are thrilled to have her. Let’s find out more about what makes her so NEAT.
NM :: Why do you want to run NEAT in your city?
EC :: I am so excited to be taking over Sacramento NEAT!
One of my favorite things to do is to run around our beautiful city and admire its diverse, yet somehow cohesive architectural styles. I love that my neighborhood (East Sac) has so many different architectural styles, yet they all fit together beautifully. I can’t wait to bring order to some of Sacramento’s homes, making them as beautiful and put-together on the inside as they are on the outside.
NM :: What did you do before NEAT?
EC :: I have a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Washington and spent the first 12 years of my career working in clinical and public health research. I love the investigative and problem-solving aspects of research and can already see how seamlessly and effectively it will translate to my work with NEAT.
NM :: What makes your city unique?
EC :: Sacramento is such a beautiful, historic city with so much to offer. And for all its historic charm it feels alive with new commercial, entrepreneurial, and cultural developments. Not to mention the amazing restaurants and parks, a perfect climate for easy, front-porch evenings, and you can be in the mountains or the Bay Area in under two hours.
NM :: How long have you lived in your city?
EC :: I moved to Sacramento in 2017 and love it here! My husband and I decided to move to Sacramento after two years in Cape Town, South Africa. We fell in love with the tree-lined boulevards and walkable neighborhoods. We love our home and our neighborhood so much.
NM :: What are your favorite places to eat in your city?
EC :: Too many to count! My favorite pastries come from Faria Bakery. Canon is a Michelin Guide rated restaurant with amazing food and drinks. We go to Hop Gardens on an almost weekly basis for fantastic pizza and a big, fenced outdoor space where our son can run around. Paragary’s is a stunning venue with delicious cocktails. As you can tell, I love trying new restaurants, and Sacramento has so many great options.
NM :: What do you think is going to be your favorite part of running NEAT in your city?
EC :: Bringing order and a sense of peace to my clients is the ultimate reward. I love the feeling of turning disorder into a sleek, elevated happy place. The previous owner of Sacramento NEAT, Jackie, has built up a thriving business and I look forward to helping new and return clients love their spaces.
NM :: Show us a picture of your most organized space and tell us what it is.
EC :: My spice cabinet brings me so much joy. My house was built in 1929 and I’ve been told this cabinet used to contain a fold-down ironing board. That’s the iron holder just to the right of the cabinet.
NM :: What about your least organized space? What the heck happened?
EC :: This art cart in my son’s playroom used to be a lot more organized and functional when he was home with a nanny. Now that he’s in school our needs for this system have changed and I need to update it. For now it’s unfortunately become a dumping ground for random art supplies.
NM :: What can people expect when they hire you to organize their home?
EC :: My priority as an organizer is that the client loves their space on their own terms. Clients can expect a timely, professional team of organizers to bring order to their space, prioritizing their needs and leaving them with an easy-to-maintain system.
NM :: What is your favorite organizing product?
EC :: Turntables! I love that you can put so many smaller items used in the kitchen or bathroom on a turntable, making it easy to find your most frequently used items.
NM :: Definitely one of our favorites. Do you have any hidden talents that we should know about?
EC :: I’m pretty good with languages. I have studied French, Latin, Russian, and I’m just starting Spanish lessons. If I hadn’t pursued an education in Public Health, I think I would have gone into Linguistics. These days I mostly use my rusty language skills to guess obscure crossword clues.
