A NEAT Nursery

What is one really supposed to expect when you're expecting?? Good question, right?

Welcoming a newborn into your home is something you will never fully be ready for. However, there are certain things new parents can and should be doing to be as prepared as possible for the arrival of their new bundle of joy.

Our Ashley is a new, Rockstar Mom with the most organized nursery on the block (go figure!). We thought we'd take a peek into Bennett's nursery to give you all the scoop on how to make your very own NEAT nursery!

1. Making sure the layout of the room works plays a key factor in what furniture will be best to hold all of the necessary essentials.

Ashley knew that she wanted to go with a vintage sports theme and worked with the girls of Sprout San Francisco to find the most kid friendly products out there. Almost everything from the paint on the walls, to the changing pad cover were made from natural, organic materials.

2. With little babies come lots of little things! Having enough containers for everything is important. Measure the dimensions inside each drawer before heading out to buy containers. That way you know exactly what's going to fit!

Bennett's diapers, wipes, binkies, and baby care essentials each had their own home with the use of this container

3. Categorizing each clothing item makes it really easy to find exactly what you want the little one to wear. This way you can actually see everything you have for them. Which will hopefully mean, they won't outgrow it before you can use it.

These were Ashley's favorite containers for all of B's onsies and pants. She separated them by short sleeve, long sleeve and bottoms. As he gets a little older, she plans to use the actual drawers with dividers since his clothes will likely no longer fit in these. Don't worry, every good organizer can find another use for a container!

4. When in doubt, ask a friend. If you have a friend who already has a little one, don't hesitate to reach out for help. If you are the first of your friends, consider Ashley your "go to" for advice. Below, she shares the details of this All American (in the making) little boy's nursery...

Paint color:: America's Cup White on the walls, and Foggy Coast Grey on the furniture and ceiling

Crib and changing table:: Newport Cottages custom furniture with a distressed finish

Glider:: Serena & Lily in Pewter Linen fabric

Linens:: Handmade by Frances from Sprout with custom organic fabric

And a few of the accessories:: baseball and bat shelf, laundry basket, pendant lamp, vintage clock radio and red wagon (flea market find), and a 1962 New York Yankees signed baseball (from his Jogi...Ashley's mom).

Hopefully these suggestions help to get you started in your NEAT Nursery. If you need any help, feel free to ask Ashley. Just a warning...trades these days require a couple hours of babysitting and a good bottle of wine!

A 'Must Have' for Jewelry Lovers

This past weekend, NEAT enjoyed the sites and sounds of the Union Street Fair in San Francisco.  While wandering in and out of stores and tasting the amazing food, we found a little gem that we just HAD to share with you!

While working with clients, NEAT finds that most women have a lot of jewelry but cannot afford the drawer space to store it all.  Many times, jewelry can end up stored in boxes where our clients cannot actually see what they have.  When you cannot see what you have, you end up buying duplicates which is obviously something we all would like to avoid J

A vendor we met had the perfect solution to all of our jewelry woes – The Izzy Jewel Box.

Izzy Jewel Box, Jewelry, Organization, Organizing, O Magazine, NEAT Method

These attractive, and functional boxes are priced amazingly well and will keep you organized.  Depending on how much jewelry you have, you can chose from a small, medium or large box.  Since the boxes are completely custom, you can also chose one with more pegs if you have lots of necklaces and bracelets or more earring holders if you prefer your bling to be on your ear (can you tell we are obsessed!?)  Check them out now – they are a NEAT must have!
