Real Simple Home 2019

Thursday, October 17, 2019

You may remember that last year we partnered with our good friends at Real Simple for their 2018 Real Simple Home, and we’re thrilled to announce that we were chosen as the official organizers again for the 2019 Real Simple Home. Our NEAT NYC girls Louisa Roberts & Corrin McCoy are taking us behind the scenes to show us what a project like this looks like!

NM :: How long did it take to organize the 2019 Real Simple Home?

NYC :: 6 Hours with 2 Organizers

NM :: What was the inspiration for this year’s home?

NYC :: This year's home felt inspired by warm family-friendly spaces with details and textures implemented in unexpected ways. This translated into each area of the home and we, too, carried that feeling into the spaces we organized thinking about the various products we selected. The organization should look beautiful, but also be functional for the busy family residing in the home!

NM :: What is challenging about organizing for a staged home?

NYC :: In a staged home, we don't have a client's personal belongings like we would for a typical home organizing project. We use our experience from organizing for a variety of families to anticipate what a family would need and build a functional organizing system thinking of those wish lists.

NM :: What is your favorite feature in the 2019 RS Home?

NYC :: Hard to choose just one! We loved the closets had customized Elfa shelving, the creative use of wallpaper on the ceilings and the mudroom they created in the entrance with furniture vs. built-ins. Not every home has a built-in mudroom so they showed that you can create one in your home with freestanding furniture. Clutter often starts when people first walk in the door so implementing a system in that area is so helpful.

NM :: What's your favorite product utilized in the home?

NYC :: The pantry stands out most! NEAT Method’s black wire baskets and black lidded canisters are so chic and fit really well with the style of the home.

NM :: How does this year’s home differ from last year?

NYC :: This year's home is a townhome. While last year's space was a one-floor apartment, this year's home features multiple floors of indoor living space and the addition of a back patio.

NM :: What inspired you most about this year’s RS Home?

NYC :: The decor is SO inspiring. Every room had an unexpected and creative design aspect. It really shows off the work of so many talented designers who beautifully layered furniture, textures, and colors.

Thanks for showing us around and bravo!
